What Are Magnesium Prill Beads?

Prill beads are small ceramic beads made from magnesium oxide. When placed in water, they release magnesium ions that raise the water’s pH to a mildly alkaline level and alter the surface tension of the water. They don’t dissolve — they’re a one-time purchase that lasts indefinitely with basic rinsing.

They’re used as an add-on to existing filtration — not as a replacement for a water filter. For best results, use them with already-filtered water from your Awesome Water Cooler or 8-stage KDF filter.

How to Use Prill Beads

1. Rinse the pouch thoroughly under clean running water before first use.
2. Place the pouch in the bottom reservoir of your water cooler or in a glass water jug.
3. Fill with filtered water and allow to sit for a few hours before drinking.
4. Top up as you drink — the beads continue working indefinitely.
5. Rinse the pouch monthly to keep it clean.
