Welcome to Awesome Water Coolers Brisbane. We specialise in supplying high-quality freestanding and benchtop water dispensers to homes and offices throughout Brisbane and the greater South East Queensland region. Whether you need a space-saving kitchen unit or a robust office cooler, we deliver class-leading hydration paired with our 8-Stage KDF Activated Carbon Mineral filtration system, well-suited to Brisbane's chloramine-disinfected, moderately hard tap water. Not sure which type suits you? Read our complete water coolers guide first.
Brisbane's tap water is moderately hard on average (around 80 mg/L of calcium carbonate), but how hard it is depends heavily on your suburb. Inner and middle-ring suburbs supplied by the Mount Crosby treatment plant, fed by Wivenhoe Dam, run harder, around 115 mg/L, while northern suburbs (North Lakes, Redcliffe, Caboolture) supplied by the North Pine plant are much softer at roughly 53 mg/L. Seqwater is the bulk supplier; Urban Utilities and Unitywater deliver it to your tap through the SEQ Water Grid.
Two things make Brisbane's water distinctive. First, it's disinfected with chloramine (chlorine combined with ammonia) rather than free chlorine. Chloramine is more stable in the network but gives water a characteristic taste and is harder to filter out than ordinary chlorine. Second, after heavy rain, Brisbane periodically experiences "earthy" taste-and-odour events, caused by naturally occurring organic compounds entering the raw supply at Mount Crosby. Seqwater confirms the water stays within the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines during these events, but the taste and smell are noticeable. (Seqwater began rolling out an enhanced treatment program across SEQ from April 2026 to further stabilise water quality.)
Brisbane tap water is fluoridated and safe to drink. The reasons people filter it are chloramine taste, the periodic earthy taste events, and scale in the harder inner-city zones.
A filtered water cooler tackles Brisbane's two main taste issues — chloramine and seasonal earthy taste, while reducing scale in the harder supply zones. Quality activated-carbon filtration reduces the chloramine flavour that many Brisbane residents notice, and helps with the earthy taste-and-odour compounds that appear after heavy rain. In inner-city suburbs on harder Mt Crosby water, filtering also reduces the dissolved minerals and sediment that cause scale inside kettles and appliances.
For Brisbane offices and homes, that means consistently fresh-tasting hot and cold water on demand — no chloramine aftertaste, and no need to buy bottled water during a taste event.

Our 8-stage KDF cartridge treats water in layered steps, sediment, activated carbon, KDF media, ceramic and mineral stages to reduce chloramine taste, sediment, heavy metals and improve flavour while balancing pH. The activated-carbon stages target the chloramine taste and the earthy taste-and-odour compounds; the sediment and ceramic stages capture particles; the KDF media targets heavy metals and inhibits bacterial growth; and the mineral stages give a smoother, slightly alkaline finish. Note that carbon-based filtration is designed to improve taste, odour and clarity — it is not intended to remove fluoride, which is added at controlled levels.

Our freestanding water coolers are ideal for busy Brisbane offices and households. Adjustable hot and cold settings, digital displays and child-safe hot water locks make these units practical for any environment.
Space-saving and efficient, our benchtop water coolers suit kitchens, lunchrooms and smaller office spaces. Hot and cold filtered water on demand without taking up floor space.

Our plumbed-in bottleless water coolers connect directly to your mains supply — no bottles to handle, no running out. Ideal for Brisbane offices and commercial fitouts.
Our coolers are compatible with our 8-stage water filter system. The 8-stage KDF cartridge uses activated carbon, KDF media, ceramic and mineral stages to reduce chloramine, sediment, heavy metals and improve taste.
