How Sensor-Activated Dispensing Works

The cooler uses an infrared proximity sensor at the dispensing area. When a cup, glass, or bottle is held within range, the sensor detects it and activates water flow automatically. Remove the container and flow stops immediately. No button to press, no handle to touch — just hold your container and go.

This sensor-activated design eliminates the most common point of cross-contamination on a shared water cooler, making it particularly well-suited to offices, medical waiting areas, schools, and households with young children.

How the Filtration System Works

Water from the 20-litre bottle flows through the 8-stage KDF cartridge fitted in the bottle neck, filtering as it descends into the cooler's internal chilled reservoir. The reservoir keeps filtered water cold and ready for immediate sensor-activated dispensing.

Setup

1. Place the cooler on a flat, level surface near a 240V power point.
2. Fit the 8-stage cartridge into the bottle neck (twists to lock).
3. Fill the bottle with tap or tank water.
4. Invert and seat the bottle securely onto the cooler.
5. Plug in and allow 20–30 minutes for the reservoir to chill before use.

First use tip: Run 10–15 litres of water through the new cartridge to flush harmless carbon particles and prime the filter for the best flavour.

Filter Replacement

Replace the 8-Stage KDF Cartridge every 6–12 months or approximately every 3,000–5,000 litres. A drop in flow rate, change in taste, or unusual odour are signs the cartridge may need replacing sooner.

• Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth — avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Clean the drip tray and around the sensor area regularly with a slightly damp cloth. Do not spray cleaners directly onto the sensor.
• Replace the cartridge every 6–12 months.
• If the cooler will not be used for an extended period, empty, unplug, and leave taps open to dry the reservoir.
• Avoid placing in direct sunlight or near heat sources.

Does the sensor work with any container?

Yes — the 20-litre AWF bottle with standard 55mm neck fitting is compatible with all Awesome Water Filters freestanding and benchtop coolers. If you already have a compatible cooler, the cooler-only variant is all you need.
