Why Two-Stage Ceramic Filtration?

Mechanical + chemical filtration in one unit. The ceramic stage physically blocks bacteria, cysts, and fine particles down to 0.9 micron absolute. The carbon block stage then removes chlorine, chemicals, and heavy metals that a ceramic filter alone won't address.
Doulton Sterasyl® is a proven standard. Manufactured in the UK and used in water filtration systems worldwide, the Sterasyl® ceramic is tested and trusted for microbiological safety.
Reusable first-stage cartridge. The ceramic element can be scrubbed clean and reused — reducing replacement costs and waste compared to single-use cartridges.
Certified performance. WaterMark certification (No. 23124) means this system meets Australian drinking water plumbing requirements — not just a manufacturer claim.
No bottled water needed. At up to 3 litres per minute, this system delivers enough filtered water for a busy household without the ongoing cost and plastic waste of bottled water.

Installation & Maintenance

Connect the diverter valve to your existing kitchen tap — no tools required for most standard fittings. If your tap has an unusual fitting, contact AWF on 1-800-789-781 before installing.
Insert the ceramic pre-filter into the first housing chamber and hand-tighten. Do not use tools — overtightening can crack the ceramic.
Insert the carbon block post-filter into the second housing chamber and hand-tighten.
Flush before first use. Run filtered water for 3–5 minutes to clear any carbon fines from the new cartridge before drinking.
Monitor flow rate. A noticeable drop in flow rate (typically after 6–12 months for the carbon block, or when the ceramic surface darkens) is your cue to clean or replace the relevant cartridge.
Clean the ceramic cartridge by removing it and scrubbing the outer surface gently with a non-abrasive pad under running water. Do not use soap or detergent — this damages the ceramic structure.
Replace the carbon block post-filter every 6–12 months depending on usage and local water quality. The ceramic pre-filter can last up to 2 years with regular cleaning.

Limitations & Care Notes

Designed for treated Australian mains water — not suitable for bore water, heavily turbid tank water, or non-potable supplies without pre-treatment.
Does not reduce fluoride — if fluoride removal is a priority, consider pairing with an AWF fluoride reduction filter or a dedicated fluoride candle.
Do not use with hot water — both cartridges are rated for cold mains water only.
Ceramic cartridges are fragile — handle with care to avoid cracking. A cracked ceramic must be replaced immediately.
Never clean the ceramic with soap, bleach, or detergent — plain water and a non-abrasive scrubbing pad only.
Store spare cartridges sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Warranty covers manufacturing defects only — it excludes physical damage, misuse, and normal wear.
