Water Filter and Cooler Combos: The Health Benefits Explained

June 12, 2020 2 min read

A water filter and cooler combination gives you the best of both worlds — filtered, clean drinking water and the convenience of hot and cold on demand. Here’s why it’s one of the most practical upgrades for an Australian home or office.

How a Filtered Water Cooler Works

Our Awesome Water Coolers use a BPA-free bottle with a built-in 8-stage KDF filter cartridge. Water passes through all 8 stages — removing chlorine, heavy metals, sediment, and bacteria — before reaching the hot or cold tap. The mineral stone stages add beneficial calcium and magnesium back into the water and raise the pH to a mildly alkaline level.

This means you’re getting genuinely filtered water, not just chilled tap water.

Health Benefits of Filtered Cooler Water

  • No chlorine taste or smell — filtered water tastes noticeably better, which encourages people (especially children) to drink more
  • Heavy metal removal — KDF media removes lead, mercury, and copper that can leach from older pipes
  • Bacteria reduction — the ceramic stage removes bacteria and protozoa
  • Mineral-rich water — beneficial minerals are retained and enhanced through the mineral stone stages
  • Instant hot water — filtered hot water for tea and coffee without a kettle; no need to boil unfiltered tap water

Want to Remove Fluoride?

Standard 8-stage KDF filters don’t remove fluoride. For fluoride removal, see our reverse osmosis systems or our guide: Do Water Filters Remove Fluoride?

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I replace the filter in a water cooler?

Every 6–12 months depending on usage and water quality. Browse our replacement cartridge range for compatible options.

Is a filtered water cooler better than bottled water?

Yes — filtered cooler water costs a fraction of a cent per litre vs $1–3+ for bottled water, and produces no plastic waste. A household spending $30–50/week on bottled water will typically recoup the cost of a cooler within a few months.

Can I use a water cooler if I’m renting?

Yes — bottle-fed benchtop and freestanding models require no plumbing. Call us on 1800 789 781 for a recommendation.
